After scoring his 35th goal of the year in the 3-0 victory over West Ham, Erling Haaland broke the Premier League’s all-time scoring record.
The Norwegian surpassed the record of 34 goals set by Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer in their respective 42-game seasons in 1993–1994 and 1994–1995—nearly 30 years ago, when the league had 22 teams.
Erling Haaland has scored more goals than: Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Wolves, Everton and Southampton.
“It’s a special night and a special moment. I’m really happy and proud,” Haaland told Sky Sports.

“It feels amazing and I’m really happy and I’m also happy for the three points,” he told BBC Match of the Day. “In the end that’s what matters and I’m happy.
“Yeah, it’s going well and now it’s time to focus on game by game. I’ve said this for a long time and that’s what the team is doing. The team is so good and I’m happy.”
The 22-year-old still has five league games left to add to his already-record-breaking total, and with a goal ratio of 1.26 per 90 minutes, he may complete the season close to 41 goals scored.
Despite the fact that his most recent hat trick was against Wolves in January, more than three months ago, Haaland has also recorded four hat tricks and is only one away from matching Harry Kane’s record of five in a single Premier League season.
If City defeats Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinals to secure a spot in Istanbul on June 10, they might still have nine games remaining. If Haaland plays every minute and City defeats Real in both legs, he would equal Dixie Dean‘s record based on his overall average goal rate.
