Gulu University Guild Speaker ‘Fired’ Over Electoral Fraud Allegations

The Gulu University Election Tribunal yesterday resolved to annul the elections that brought to power fourth-year medicine and surgery student, Acidri Phillip claiming that it involved a lot of malpractice.

The action was sparked by the petition filed by Acidri’s beaten rival, second-year Law student, Otim Kennedy. The Tribunal then decided to denounce the newly elected speaker.

In response to the petition, the Tribunal has released a “standing order” to the speaker and directed that the elections are held afresh.

In a meeting held on May 2, the committee revealed that the previous elections disfigured Article 22 of the Guild constitution.
