Guidelines set for Nkumba University Alumni Executive Elections

Old students to pay 10,000/= to qualify for voting

The office of the academic registrar Nkumba University has released guidelines for the election of the new Alumni Executive Committee set for Saturday 23rd September 2017.

According to the guidelines, candidates intending to contest for the post of President or Vice President of the Alumni Association are required to pay a non refundable fee of Ugx.400,000/=.

Those contesting for other posts are supposed to pay Ugx.200,000/=.

“Funds shall be paid in the Bank after generating a reference number at Nkumba University”, the notice reads.

The Nomination Forms are available at Nkumba University Main Campus and Kampala Campus. They can also be downloaded from the University website.

Filled in forms must be returned to the Academic Registrar at the Main Campus by Wednesday 20th September, 2017.

All aspiring candidates will appear before the Electoral Commission on Thursday 21st September 2017 from 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. and it is the Electoral Commission which shall declare the successful candidates.

Aspiring candidates should come for vetting with three (3) supporters.

Each Candidate shall have two (2) Agents on the Polling Day who shall be authorized to sign the Declaration Forms at the end of the Elections.

It should be noted that members who have been serving on the old alumni executive committee are not allowed to contest for any post.

Who is eligible to vote

Nkumba University Graduates

The Voters Register shall be the Graduation Booklets or any former Nkumba University Identity card plus a National Identity card.

Those intending to vote shall have evidence (receipt) of having paid the Annual Subscription fee of Ugx 10,000/=. The fee shall be paid on voting day. The Voting Card shall be a receipt of the Annual Subscription for the year 2017.

The Chairman of Nkumba University Alumni Electoral Commission, the Academic Registrar shall guide in all the other matters related to the Elections.

The positions for Nkumba University Alumni Executive include the following

  1. President
  2. Vice President
  3. Secretary
  4. Treasurer
  5. Publicity Secretary
  6. Chairperson Finance and Resource Mobilization
  7. Chairperson Administration and Human Resource
  8. Chairperson Investment and Works
  9. Chairperson Education and Sports
  10. 10.Legal Advisor
