Tips on passing a job interview

Before you go for that job interview, it’s essential to find out as much as you can about the company. This will make you  prepared to answer both interview questions and to ask the interviewer questions.

  • Use the internet to research on the company by visiting the company’s website.
  • Use social media like facebook and twitter to follow up the company’s activities
  • If you know any connection try them out, ask them about the company and always keep in touch with them.

Analyze the job

  • Take time to know the job description, qualifications and knowledge that the company is seeking in a candidate.

Know what to wear.

  • Always know what to wear for that interview. You should not wait for the last minute to know what you are supposed to put on and for the first time the impression should be great so dress accordingly in business attire. It is therefore important to be neat, tidy and well-groomed to present a positive image to the employer.

Know what to carry for the interview

  • make sure you have photo copies of all your academic credentials, list of references attached to your portfolio.

Know the interview etiquette

  • Remember to greet the receptionist, your interviewer, and everyone else you meet politely, pleasantly and enthusiastically.
  • During the interview watch your body language – shake hands firmly and make eye contact as you articulate your points.
  • Relax and lean forward a little towards the interviewer so you appear interested and engaged.
  • Keep your feet on the floor and your back against the lower back of the chair. Pay attention, be attentive, and look interested.
  • During a job interview, listening is just as important as answering questions. If you’re not paying attention, you’re not going to be able to give a good response.
  • It’s important to listen to the interviewer, to pay attention, and to take time, if you need it, to compose an appropriate answer.

Stay Calm

  • During the interview try to remain as calm as possible. If you’re not sure what’s been asked seek for clarification.

Follow up a job interview

  • Make this by a “thank you” letter which restates why you’re interested in the job.
