The Ugandan government has ear-marked 30 billion shillings to Makerere University to help improve research and innovations at the University.
The fund will be included in the 2019/2020 financial budget and will exclude all the other financial support that the University receives from the government.
Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye, the science, technology and innovation minister made this revelation while at the Annual Media Convention at Makerere University on Thursday.
Dr. Tumwesigye also recognized late Musasizi for his innovation of making pads out of papyrus and the Chemistry and Botany student who manufactured teargas.
He urged media practitioners to embrace science and technology reporting and also publish findings from science researches.
This year’s media convention was held under the theme “communicating science in the social media age: Sharing technical Information from researchers with the public”
