Four Uganda Christian University students were on Saturday arrested for allegedly smoking shisha in the Cassablanca, Mukono, a known spot for shisha smokers.
The anti tobacco operations was jointly made by the Uganda National Health Consumers Organisation (UNHCO) and the police under the Tobacco Control Act 2015.
The students have been taken to Mukono Police Station pending and are to appear before court to answer charges of violation of the Act.
According to the Tobacco Act, Shisha (water pipe tobacco), Kubar and other flavoured tobacco products as well as production, sale and use of electronic cigarettes are banned from Uganda.
The law states that any person found guilty is liable to imprisonment of a term not less than a year or pay a fine of Shs480000 or both.
