Former Makerere University Guild President, Roy Ssemboga Prying for Kawempe South Seat

Roy Ssemboga, the former Makerere University Guild President has started prying for the Kawempe South constituency Parliamentary seat as the general election nears in 2021.

During his campaigns for guild leadership, Ssemboga rallied under the UYD/DP card.

However, of recent, he has been spotted in people power struggles and meetings , sometimes with the party president himself, the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

“He is very calculative and I witnessed that first hand when the university was closed while he was Guild President and he had to make sure it was re-opened as soon as possible. He led demonstrations that led to his own arrest in that period, led delegations to meet the Speaker and Education Minister for diplomacy and openly supported a suit by some law students challenging the President’s power close Makerere. At every battle front, he was there and it paid off” Andrew Ndyanabo, an alumnus of Makerere University was quoted in the media.

Kawempe South is currently represented by Hon Mubarrack Munyagwa fondly known as Mugaati gwa Butter who has also formerly acted as the Kawempe Mayor and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman.
