Ndejje University will host the President of the Federation of International University Sports during the 2017 Inter University Games in December.
The Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) President Penina Kabenge disclosed the visit by FISU boss Oleg Matytsin during the inspection of sports and accommodation facilities at Ndejje University Main Campus, Luwero.
The high powered AUUS delegation was on a fact finding mission yesterday to access Ndejje University’s readiness to host the 17th edition of the AUUS Games due December.
AUUS okayed Ndejje hosting the prestigious biannual event having been impressed by the tangible steady progress and level of development ever since the university hosting similar Games in 2011.
“We are extremely impressed by what we have witnessed about the level of development. You are on the right track with many new structures that have come up. The developments will definitely take Ndejje to another level beyond Uganda and Africa,” AUUS boss said.
Kabenge said on that premise Ndejje will be honored to host the FISU President during the December Games.
Ndejje University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eriabu Lugujjo welcomed the AUUS delegation and assured the university sports fraternity of a conducive environment during the Games.
“Ndejje has a feeling that these Games will leave a legacy and landmark in its history as well as individual participants. The reason for this anxiety is that the athletes will be breathing clean oxygen from the environment surrounded by forests. It is conducive for records to be set,” the Vice Chancellor said.
