Finance Job for Accountant at Uganda Registration Services Bureau

Job Title:    Senior Accountant

Organisation: Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Manager Accounts

About US:

The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) is established as a Statutory Body under the Uganda Registration Services Bureau Act Cap. 210,  Laws of Uganda 2000 Edition. The Bureau is a key player in commercial and civil registrations that facilitate private sector development and vital statistics for national planning.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Support the manager Accounts in the preparation final accounts.
  • Render support in the preparation management accounts and accountability reports.
  • Work closely with external auditors during audit and prepare answers to audit queries raised for management approval.
  • Manage the cash flow in line with work plans and arrange investments.
  • The incumbent will manage departmental budgets and prepare budget monitoring reports.
  • Maintain the fixed assets and investment registers.
  • Ensure the daily positing in accounting system and review all postings.
  • Regular review of payments and receipts of the URSB.
  • Carry out bank reconciliations and accountability for operational advances.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager Accounts.

  • Prepared  final accounts
  • Prepared Management accounts and accountability reports
  • Answered  audit Queries
  • Prepared cash flow in line with work plans and  investments
  • Budget monitoring reports Coordinated
  • Fixed assets and investment registers maintained
  • Reviewed daily all postings
  • Reviewed Payments and receipts
  • Bank reconciliations statements
  • Periodic reports produced

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The Senior Accountant should hold an Honors’ University Degree in Commerce or Business Administration-Finance or Accounting option) Finance or Accounting. Possession of an MBA is an added advantage.
  • Possession of Level II Professional Qualifications in (ACCA, ACA, and CPA) or post graduate Diploma in Finance Management.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience as an accountant with a corporate institution.
  • Detailed working knowledge of Finance or Accounting packages.
  • Excellent computer literacy skills
  • Good report writing skills
  • Budgeting skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
