EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE: UNEB TAKES ST. FRANCIS JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL KAWEMPE HEADMISTRESS TO COURT.

16 senior four UNEB candidates decline turning up for biology, chemistry exams after one  of their college running away and the other taken to police for practicing impersonation while sitting for exams.

The incident happens a day after the Uganda National Examination Board invigilators at the school captured the 32 year old headmistress by name of Nantezza Milley Matovu over complying with her student Munyasi Rebecca to cheat exams.

Ann Kemali a senior legal officer at UNEB told journalists on Friday that Munyasi Rebecca a S4 candidate informed police at Kawempe police station that she paid 2.4m to Kidawuli Asuman to write UNEB exams for her at St. Francis Junior Secondary School Kawempe.

Kemaali added that the headmistress’ offense is punishable by law through 5 years imprisonment, payment of 20m ugx as a penalty or both.

The offenses commited by the Nantezza the headmistress are two, aiding abetting impersonation and furnishing the board with false information that Munyasi is a first time candidate yet she is writing exams for the second time, she noted.

According to Jennifer Kalule the public relations office UNEB, ” to our surprise, 16 candidates have been absent for the next days yet they are meant to write exams at St. Francis Junior Secondary School Kawempe.”

This therefore reflects a sign of malpractice that has been ongoing in the school, however the state attorney has urged that there is need for a stronger system in place to avoid the further examination malpractice, Kalule included.

Judge Christian Kibuuka, Magistrate Court 1 heard the case of malpractice at Nabweru, Wakiso District and granted a bail out to Nantezza at a cash fee of 500,000 Ugx with a 1m Ugx to be paid by each of her sureties thereby remanding the student Munyasi Rebecca to Luzira prison until 1st Nov 2022.
