Ex-Nigeria’s President, Minister Baryomunsi, Balaam Admits NUP President as a Law Graduate from Cavendish University, Congratulates him.

The Minister in charge of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and National Guidance for Uganda, Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi together with the Minister in charge of youths affairs, Dr. Balaam Barugahara have witnessed and congratulated the leader of the National Unity Platform, opposition political party, upon conquering a  degree in Bachelor of Law, from Cavendish University Uganda.

Baryomunsi, presiding over the ceremony as the Chief Guest, during the 13th graduation ceremony at Speke Resort hotel Munyonyo, tasked  Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, while giving his remarks, that he should also take another step of going through the Law Development Center (LDC) in Uganda so that he fully strengthens the profession as a lawyer.

When the NRM government came to power, there was only one University in Uganda, however, currently there are 53 universities in Uganda including Cavendish University, therefore it is credit to the government of Uganda,  he said on Thursday.

“Like the theme for this year’s graduation states, Consolidating Excellence, Innovation and Transformation. I appreciate the Cavendish University among other few, for prioritizing technology education in Uganda, this was also witnessed during COVID-19 lockdown with the continued online studying by the institution, as students were made to go back home.”

Baryomunsi also commended the University for having open doors especially by attracting international students, whereby over 40 nationalities are represented, referring to over 11000 international students who have gone through the institution since inception.

Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, speaking to journalists indicated that it has taken him eight good years to get his degree in Law, “ the journey has been long right away from the International University of East Africa (IUEA)  where I started from but later switched to Cavendish due to some challenges that IUEA was facing by then, other challenges of course included politics and illness which also contributed to the delay. I however, urge the youths in Uganda never to give up on their dreams, no matter how long it may take, and they should know that education can never be taken for granted.” He said.

The Vice Chancellor Dr. Olive Sabiiti stated how the graduates have been equipped with the knowledge and skills gained from the university, “I encourage you to continue pushing boundaries, challenging norms, and embracing opportunities to make a meaningful impact in your chosen fields.”

Today, you join the Cavendish Alumni Family, a distinguished group of our best ambassadors who carry the torch of excellence, innovation, and transformation to the world. Your potential to make a significant difference in your fields is immense, and we look forward to witnessing your impact, she included.
