DOUGLAS VILA HOSTEL
A shuttle bearing an inscription Douglas Villa Hostel shutters the idea that we have almost covered hostels along Nanfubambi road Makerere Kikoni. We decide to trail it slowly. As we approach the facility, we realize there is no entry except through the security booth. A lanky yet sturdy in build security officer is strict on every entrant. We realize his strictness doesn’t rub well with some entrants presumably paying visits to their colleagues as they are required to deposit their Identity cards and sign in the guest book.
As we are introduced to the in-charge of this 230 room facility with occupancy of about 480 students, we realize the facility is covered with wireless internet services with a fully facilitated medical facility with an In-house doctor, outpatient admissions, laboratory services, backed with a well stocked pharmacy for residents. There is also an extra ushs 100,000 for health insurance during the stay.
Other services available around include a secretarial bureau, Restaurant and takeaway services, well stocked canteens and this shuttle we followed is sistered by another.
The in-charge seems to be busy. Asked about the restlessness, Douglaas confidently says the annual pool tournament and residential community marathon is in the offing. In this, students and the community participate inorder to nurture talent in the name of “get together”
