Job Summary: The Declaration Executive- Airfreight will oversee, analyze and perform all customs declaration duties at the branch office
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning and Setting Strategies
- Oversees, plans, manages, and moderates all custom brokerage activities of Fracht Entebbe office.
- Provide professional and technical advice/ guidance to other staff and management on issues pertaining to local customs brokerage to avoid mismanagement and flaws which could hinder company operations
- Periodically review all processes/procedures, identifies areas of improvement and develop ways of improving the services rendered by the branch.
- Analyses and interprets custom publication, regulations, procedures and recommends action to be taken and ensures proper implementation and execution.

Supervising declaration processes
- Supervise other staff who enter information from the declaration forms into the computer
- Ensure that the other staff attach all the necessary documents to declaration forms and send them to customs for processing/ verification.
- Ensures that copies of queries of the declarations from customs for corrections are received and appropriately attended to.
- Liaises and co-ordinates with the customs department regularly to keep abreast with any developments that may impact Fracht operations.
- Ensures that custom entries are prepared and processes on a timely basis
IT System Update
- Daily update of the declaration details in the IT system
Budgeting and budget control
- Participates in development of branch budgets, oversees their implementation and also ensures that the branch adheres to budgetary limits.
Reporting
- Prepares reports concerning;
- Performance and growth at the branch
- Operations requirement at the branch
- Budgetary needs and performance
- Staff requirements
Responsibility for assigned adhoc duties
- Performs any other duties that may from time to time be assigned by the supervisor and management
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a diploma or bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration
- Post graduate Diploma in Customs Clearing and Forwarding
- An East Africa Customs and Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate
- At least four years of experience in a customs clearing and forwarding firm
- The applicant must be a professional Airfreight operator with declaration skills
- Genuine IATA diploma including dangerous goods cargo
- Able to run an air freight operation for an international Freight forwarder.
- High level of interpersonal skills
- High level of experience in dealing with people
- Must have effective communication skills both written and oral
- Able to work long and irregular hours
- Ability to keep deadlines is a must requirement
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks at any time on a continuous basis
- Demonstrate aptitude for teamwork
