I vowed never to fight a battle which isn’t mine, be it for good cause or otherwise. The Buganda fore sow this that’s why they have a saying “ EWALI A BAGALANA TOSAYO KI KYO” I had a friend who was my tight buddy; we studied together for four years at O‘Level and now at the university.
Due to our tight friendship, we decide to rent a room together, we share everything except men of course- which woman could share her man?
She was the first one to get hooked , this was because she was more beautiful and she wasn’t too picky like myself.
As long as you had the height and the wallet you would work for my friend, yet for me I preferred true love, God fearing, and the looks…. the list is endless. And any guy who would approach me when we are together, she would make funny of him listing down my preferences which sometimes made me laugh; though at some point it would make me furious with her.
She would mock me saying, “On your wedding day, I will die to give a speech so that I may be able to see the hero (referring to my would be husband) who has conquered the heart of a stone” and we would laugh loud about it for some good time.
Nothing changed when she started cohabiting with her boyfriend, we immediately became friends with him, we became so close that I was involved in most of their activities as lovers, they would pick me from my faculty after lectures so that we would have lunch, a walk or go for an outing.
Time reached whereby I would feel like the third party in their love affair, so I decided to withdraw my good self from their business.
The cake is sweeter when it is still hot, so was their love affair. As time went on the guy started to mistreat my friend, he started to order her around, he reached an extent of slapping her in public.
But every time he did this I felt so much pissed off. One day I decide to stand-up to this forsake creature! Not knowing I was asking for a hot slap. He gave me a hot one which made me lose my balance up to the ground. I think I fainted! Did I? No, but I did fall flat on the ground.
The next scene was the best and it deserves remembrance, I witnessed a grown up man being bitten like a little kid.
At this time, it came to my understanding that I had bodyguards (secret admirers) and however dared me, I had someone to fight for me; a man who would fight to save a woman’s honor was worth considering.
I later became friends with my hero so close; that am expecting his baby! Maybe my preferences did not apply here.
After some good time, we became friends again with my friends’ boyfriend. I think I should remind her to prepare her speech because ding ding bells are around the corner.
