Reports to: Operations Manager with indirect reporting to M&E Director- MSC

About US:

CURE Children’s Hospital of Uganda, a Private-Not-For-Profit (PNFP) Christian hospital specialized in pediatric neurosurgery and integrated spiritual ministry.

Job Summary:  The Data Collector will implement the M&E activities of the hospital specifically, the M&E requirements of the USAID ASHA grant at CURE Uganda and support the hospital’s research initiatives by collecting relevant data.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee M&E Requirements

  • Effectively oversee the M&E requirements of the USAID ASHA grant, including surveys and focus groups Develop procedures that outline the data collector role.
  • Develop and strengthen monitoring, inspection, and evaluation procedures

Data management function

  • Collect and input M&E data for patients in accordance with established procedures, for ongoing baseline reporting.
  • Ensure data cleanliness and integrity.
  • Support the clinical team in the quality improvement, audit and research projects that will further inform the clinical service, including patient recruitment, data collection and logistical support.

Communication function

  • Generate monthly narrative report of activities and as needed per leadership’s requests and DC capacity.
  • Produce monthly narrative report to describe M&E activities.

Training function

  • Assist hospital personnel with M&E tools and support them in their use, training and retraining as necessary.
  • Personal Improvement initiatives to further the understanding of the DC role.

Occupational Health and Safety observed.

  • To work in such a way that does not cause injury to yourself, other co-workers or patients.
  • Following & complying with H&S policies, processes & applying them to your own work activities, including using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required.
  • Participating in activities directed at preventing harm & promoting well-being in the workplace Identifying, reporting & self-managing hazards where appropriate.
  • Early and accurate reporting of incidents at work and raising issues of concern when identified.

Spiritual Ministry

  • Participates in the hospital’s Spiritual Ministry Programs.

Other duties                               

  • Other official related duties that may be assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, Maths.
  • Strong training and facilitation skills
  • Experience in the implementation of M&E in development projects implemented by national/international NGOs/Government; desirable.
  • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports; desirable.
  • Excellent organizational /administrative skills and ability to effectively plan in evolving situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong computer proficiency using software applications such as Microsoft Office & Google Drive
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and local languages.
