Courses at Jinja School of Nursing and Midwifery

Principal, Jinja School of Nursing

Jinja School of Nursing and Midwifery provides exciting career opportunities in Nursing, Midwifery and Pediatric nursing.

The school has three intakes in a year. Interviews for practicing nurses who wish to upgrade are always in March.

In June and July, Jinja School of Nursing and Midwifery admits students that come in direct from Secondary School and in September  students are admitted for Certificate Courses.

Nursing courses offered at Jinja School of Nursing and Midwifery include;

1. Diploma in Paediatric & Child Health Nursing [DPCHN]

  • Department : Paediatric Health
  • Cost : fees structure to be determined after admissions.
  • Duration : 1/6/0 [–Duration in Years / Months / Weeks.–]
  • Overview : Available only for upgrading students.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicant MUST be registered by the Uganda Nursing and Midwifery Council (UNMC) & already qualified as a nurse with 2 years” experience in that field
  • Applicant MUST satisfy the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) & the Ministry of Health (MoH) interview panel.

2. Diploma In Nursing [DN] (Upgrading)

  • Department : Nusring (Diploma)
  • Cost : fees structure to be determined after admissions.
  • Duration : 1/6/0 [–Duration in Years / Months / Weeks.–]
  • Overview : For upgrading / continuing students.

3. Diploma in Nursing [DN] (Direct Entry)

  • Department : Nusring (Diploma)
  • Cost : fees structure to be determined after admissions.
  • Duration : 3/0/0 [–Duration in Years / Months / Weeks.–]
  • Overview : For candidates directly from Secondary school.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicant MUST have been in school 3 years prior to application
  • Applicant MUST have completed their A-Level and obtained at least 2 principal passes, one of which MUST be in Biology.
  • Applicant MUST satisfy the requirements of the Joint Admissions Board (JAB) of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES).

4. Diploma in Midwifery [DM] (Upgrading)

  • Department : Midwifery (Diploma)
  • Cost : fees structure to be determined after admissions.
  • Duration : 1/6/0 [–Duration in Years / Months / Weeks.–]
  • Overview : For upgarading / continuing students

5. Diploma in Midwifery [DM] (Direct Entry)

  • Department : Midwifery (Diploma)
  • Cost : fees structure to be determined after admissions.
  • Duration : 3/0/0 [–Duration in Years / Months / Weeks.–]
  • Overview : Suited for applicants seeking a career in Midwifery

Entry Requirements

  • Applicant MUST have completed their A-Level and obtained at least 2 principal passes, one of which MUST be in Biology.
  • Applicant MUST satisfy the requirements of the Joint Admissions Board (JAB) of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES).
  • Applicant MUST have been in school within 3 years prior to application.

6. Certificate in Comprehensive Nursing [CCN]

  • Department : Comprehensive Nursing (Cert.)
  • Cost : fees structure to be determined after admissions.
  • Duration : 2/6/0 [–Duration in Years / Months / Weeks.–]
  • Overview : This course was formerly called Enrolled Comprehensive Nursing(ECN).

Entry Requirements

  • Completion or possession of an O-Level Certificate with passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Must be 18 years and/or above.
  • Must have been in school within the previous 3 years before applying.
  • Candidates MUST satisfy the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) interview panel.

Philimon Badagawa.

Philimon Badagawa is a multimedia journalist with skills in news gathering, packaging, editing and online publishing. He has knowledge in data visualization, can design and manage websites. He previously worked as a journalist with Observer media and authored several articles and stories. He does research, video & audio recording, editing and production for online publication. He Participated in The New Dawn photography campaign aimed at rebranding Northern Uganda-USAID/NUTI Project (2010). Philimon is in love with photography, writing, reading, sharing new ideas and interacting with reasonable people for skills development.
