JOB DETAIL
Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has secured funding from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) through the City Wide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) grant for the Sanitation Inclusive Program (Phase 3). The funding is intended to upscale faecal sludge management services in Kampala through catalytic investments. In this phase, there will be need to scale up the demand and supply for improved sanitation services. This is to be achieved through a number of interventions including the construction of model public toilets and the implementation of the sanitation marketing Strategies.
Minimum Qualification and Working Experience required:
Academic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in either Mass Communication (Public Relations option), Journalism or any other related course from a recognized University or Institution of higher learning.
- Specialized training in Public Relations or Journalism is an added advantage
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) consecutive years working experience in Communication and Media/Public Relations in Government or from a reputable organization.
Competencies (Technical and Behavioral)
- A minimum of two (2) consecutive years working experience in Communication and Media/Public Relations in Government or from a reputable organization.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing public relation programs.
- Demonstrated ability to market corporate brands
- Demonstrated knowledge of the media industry
- Excellent communication skills (Oral and written)
- Knowledge of 2 other commonly used languages in the City.
Key Result Areas:
- Coordinating Media activities and dissemination of information to the public through print and electronic media.
- Execute the program’s communication campaigns, i.e. Above-The-Line (mass media) communication, and Social Media Communication campaigns.
- Facilitating the flow of information to all relevant stakeholders in line with the Authority guidelines.
- Identifying and establishing relevant and beneficial media partnerships with different stakeholders for the Programme.
- Coordinating press conferences and facilitate the distribution of information and materials to the press.
- Develop articles, success stories and lessons learnt during implementation of the program activities, and ensure that regular publications (case studies, project updates, newsletters, e.t.c) are printed, and updated in a timely and consistent manner.
- Providing professional communication and public relations advice on best practice in the implementation of Programme campaigns in the media in line with KCCA guidelines.
