The Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network and one of the largest private, not-for-profit, nondenominational educational networks in the developing world.
AKES currently operates over 200 pre-primary, primary, secondary, ad lighter-secondary schools and programs in diverse geographic locations in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Uganda and the United Arab Emirates, Schools offer their respective country’s national curricula; some schools in East Africa and Bangladesh also offer international curricula IB and British). AKES employs over 3,000 teachers and educates over 85,000 students.

Models of education that have proved successful in one region are modified and replicated in other regions, thus creating a unique educational system based on universally shared expertise.


AKES CEO Uganda Aga Khan Education Services is currently seeking to recruit a Chief Executive Officer for AKES, L’ganda which operates three schools in Kampala. The CEO will he responsible for leading its day to day operations and the successful delivery of the organisation’s strategic direction for Uganda.
The strategic goal is to reposition the current schools into two high performing affordable quality national and international school campuses with upgraded facilities, enriched curriculum, and a focus on continuous development to ensure a values based 21st Century relevant education for students. This will involve school construction, relocation and major facilities retrofitting.
To be the successful candidate, you will be a visionary and dynamic leader. You will demonstrate entrepreneurial instinct and have an extensive knowledge of contemporary developments in the global education arena. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as cultural awareness and sensitivity. Highly qualified in business and education management, you will have substantial senior leadership experience, preferably within education organisations.

Key Result Areas Policy and Strategy: Champion and provide leadership in rolling out the strategy set by the AKES Head Office (HO) and Board of Directors of AKES, Cganda.
Management: Promote an organizational culture and ethos that reflects the values of AKES and AKDN and fosters effective performance, high motivation and positive outcomes for the students and the adults connected with the Aga Khan Schools.


HR Management: Facilitate the process of at tracking and retaining the highest quality staff, fostering a culture of continued learning and development and ensuring that sound policies and practices are upheld.
Financial Management: Direct the development and management of the annual budget in line with the agreed strategic plans and objectives.
Community Relationships: Foster strong stakeholder relationships in addition to leveraging and optimizing opportunities and synergies.

Required Qualifications and Skills
• Candidate should have a Bachelor in Agriculture, or Natural Science.MBA is an added advantage
• At least 7-10years’ hands-on experience dealing with corporate sales strategies.
• Understanding clients like government, INGO, Donor who buy seeds from the seed company.
• Forecasting, budget preparation, budge control, order booking, payment handling.
• Negotiation, issue handling, effective communication skills.
• Experience in managing process documentation and reporting.
