Bayern Munich Beat PSG 2-0 to reach the Quarter-finals

Bayern Munich has qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Paris St-Germain 2-0 in a Last 16 tie.

Bayern maintained their streak of keeping a clean sheet in seven out of their last eight matches, while PSG’s failure to progress beyond the last 16 stages has occurred for the fifth time in seven years.

Bayern Munich’s 3-0 aggregate victory saw Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who had previously played for Paris St Germain, contribute to his former team’s elimination.

Bitshiabu, a second-half substitute for Nordi Mukiele who had replaced the injured Marquinhos, attempted to play out from the left-back position but made an error that allowed Thomas Muller to steal the ball from Marco Verratti.

Despite having a team filled with talented players, PSG couldn’t manage to score across two legs and was only saved from the humiliation of a four or five-goal aggregate loss due to a VAR decision and an offside flag ruling out Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s earlier header and Sadio Mane’s stoppage-time attempt.

Sommer’s attempt to dribble out of his own box was disrupted by Achraf Hakimi’s pressure, causing him to lose possession to Vitinha. The latter then took a shot toward an empty net, but Dutch international Stefan de Vrij made a crucial intervention by sliding in and clearing the ball.

Sergio Ramos and Mbappe both saw second-half efforts well saved by Swiss international Sommer but by then the damage had been done and Bayern was in the ascendancy.
