Job Title:   Assistant Finance Officer (2 Fresher Jobs)

Reports to: Finance Officer

About US:

Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) is a body corporate established under an Act of Parliament to construct, operate and maintain railway, marine and road services both inside and outside Uganda for the carriage of passengers and goods. As a result of privatisation of operations, the mandate of URC changed from that of an operator to that of asset holder, concession monitor and advisor on railway technical matters.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Raise cash books for all transactions daily
  • Post data into sun-System in line with the accounting manual
  • Raise adjusting journal vouchers, seek approval and post to Sun-System in line with the accounting manual
  • Raise invoices and credit/debit notes
  • Provide special reports to all stake holders on request as advised by the supervisor
  • Monitor bank statement payments daily and report to the Supervisor
  • Raise, follow-up and resolve queries with banks and stations in line with the accounting manual
  • Raise and forward for approval and follow-up penalties and interest to clients in line with the various contracts.
  • Pay-out cash as per approved payment vouchers

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) Assistant Finance Officer job placement should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Computing
  • At least two years of experience in the Finance Department
  • Must prove ability to deliver assignments in time with minimum supervision
  • Hands-on experience with Sun System, SAP or any proven financial management system.
