Apply for School of History Scholarships for Masters Students at University of Kent in UK

The School of History is offering four scholarships for MA students. The Scholarships are available to UK, EU and overseas students and both Taught and Research students are eligible to apply. Scholarships cover tuition fees at the home/EU rate as well as a maintenance bursary. Applicants must hold a good bachelor’s degree (First or high 2:1) in a relevant subject; it is strongly recommended that they have a History background. The application deadline is 31 January 2014.

Eligibility:
The Scholarship is open to all MA applicants who have applied (or are applying) to the School of History; the Centre for Medieval and Early Modern Studies (MEMS); or the Centre for American Studies for the academic year starting September 2014.
-Applicants must hold a good bachelor’s degree (First or high 2:1) in a relevant subject; it is strongly recommended that they have a History background.
-Please note that Scholarships are only open to MEMS and American Studies students whose first proposed supervisor is in the School of History.

Scholarship Description: The School of History is pleased to offer four scholarships for MA students: One scholarship for our Taught MA in Modern History (Paris) – This programme will see the successful applicant study their first semester at the University of Kent’s Canterbury campus and their second semester at the University’s Paris campus. Two scholarships for study on any of our Taught MA programmes at our Canterbury campus. One scholarship for MA by research based at our Canterbury campus. The Scholarships are available to UK, EU and overseas students and both Taught and Research students are eligible to apply. They will cover tuition fees at the home/EU rate as well as a maintenance bursary.

How to Apply: The mode of applying is by post or email. To apply for one of the School of History scholarships applicants must, In addition to their application for study:
-Provide a copy of their CV. This should include full name, address, telephone number and email address, as well as the names and contact details of two referess (address, email, telephone number).
-Provide a research proposal (up to two sides of A4) which includes sections on the broader context, historiography, methodology and research questions. This can either be based on work previously undertaken for an undergraduate essay or dissertation, or it can outline a possible topic for the Masters dissertation.
-Specify which of the scholarships is being applied for. There is no limit to the number of Scholarship applications you can apply for. Please note that you must have submitted a completed application to the University through the admissions system before you put in your Scholarship application.
