About Roofings:

Roofings Ltd is part of the Roofings Group, a number one quality steel manufacturer that supplies over 350,000 metric tons per annum, to both local and export markets within the region. Our offices are situated about 6 km outside Kampala city centre in Lubowa, along Entebbe road.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Regularly inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Ensure timely electrical troubleshooting and root cause analysis in case of breakdowns.
  • Actively implement the preventive maintenance schedule for all factory electrical equipment.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.
  • Install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.
  • Ensure timely maintenance of the factory power substations.
  • Ensure his/her safety and all other employees as per ISO and IEE standards

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate should hold a Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Working knowledge of electronics systems is an added advantage.
  • Past experience with pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and circuits.
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good eyesight, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good physical health, strength and stamina
  • Possess the ability to work alone and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints and interpret specifications.
  • Working knowledge of safe operating procedures.
  • Ability to understand and apply industry standards for installation, repairs and safety.
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to operate computer-based equipment.
  • Ability to effectively use of safety wear, insulated tools, safety gloves.
  • Working knowledge and consciousness about the danger of electrical power.
