Applications are invited for AfriPlantSci Summer School Scholarships for Early Career Researchers in Kenya.

This is a 2-week, residential program, which gives an interactive learning experience to researchers.

ACACIA will train, support and mentor the African and UK crop research scientific community to have a greater future impact on key African agricultural challenges. ACACIA will provide African crop researchers and institutes with the access to cutting-edge technologies required to accelerate crop improvement in Africa. ACACIA will conduct world-leading research for development to accelerate the improvement of important African food crop species.

Scholarship Description

  • Applications Deadline: September 30, 2018
  • Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue research. This includes MSc students, PhD students and researchers recently graduated from their studies (within 5 years).
  • Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to do research in Plant Health. This course will cover a broad range of science related to plant health, combined with the practical hands-on experience of the latest techniques which can advance research in this area.
  • Scholarship Award: Registration, Travel and Accommodation costs for the course will be covered for successful applicants.
  • Nationality: This scholarship is available for researchers from sub-Saharan African countries.
  • Number of Scholarships: Numbers not given
  • Scholarship can be taken in Kenya

Eligible Countries: This scholarship is available for researchers from sub-Saharan African countriesAngola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Democratic Republic), Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria:

AfriPlantSci invite applications from early-career researchers from across sub-Saharan Africa whose research falls within the broad topic of Plant Health. This includes MSc students, PhD students and researchers recently graduated from their studies (within 5 years). Potential attendees should have the aspiration to build their careers through international networks and a passion to address plant health challenges in Africa.

English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
