Job Summary: The Senior Officer Education will be providing ongoing capacity support and coordination of the project partners with project planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation and reporting. The Senior Officer is responsible for the direct supervision of the Education Programming activities, providing on-going, support in planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation and reporting in regard to the execution of the Education activities within the vulnerable communities targeted by Save the Children.  The incumbents will take responsibility for support of the Education Project to promote safe, supportive schools and communities that increase vulnerable and conflict-affected children’s participation. The jobholder is specifically oriented towards Basic Education and Early Childhood Care and Development and special attention will be made on Education sector in other core sectors of the organisation such as nutrition, health, Child Protection and child rights programing. The job holder may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicants must hold Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities or a relevant discipline.  Additional or post graduate qualification in Early Childhood Care and Development, and Basic Education is an added advantage
  • A minimum of three years’ progressive experience in programme development and management with INGOs.
  • Past exposure and experience of working with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
  • Excellent computer literacy and documentation skills are a must.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Possess the ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
