Uganda Martyrs University Graduates

Uganda Martyrs University in conjunction with African Center for Agro-Ecology and Livelihood Systems (ACALISE) invites applications from eligible candidates for 10 Ph.D. and 108 MSc ACALISE National / International Scholarships in the following programmes:

  • Ph.D. in Agro-Ecology and Livelihood Systems
  • MSc in Agro-Ecology,
  • MSc in Monitoring and Evaluation, MSc in Development Economics
  • MA in Bioethics.
  • MA in Microfinance and Management

The Ph.D. scholarship will cover full tuition fees, accommodation and book allowance. International Students will receive a minimal living allowance.

The MSc scholarship is a contribution towards tuition fees as per the university fees structure. All other costs will be met by the student. Regional students will receive Full Tuition fees while National students will receive Half tuition fees.

The African Center for Agro-Ecology and Livelihood Systems (ACALISE) is a regional center of excellence that is funded by the World Bank through the Government of Uganda. The main objective of ACALISE is to streamline the production of high level, well-motivated and ethically conscious critical mass of Agro-Ecology and Livelihood Systems experts. The center which is hosted at Uganda Martyrs University collaborates quality postgraduate education as well as applied research to address key development challenges facing the East and Southern Africa and beyond

Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens of a country in Sub-Saharan Africa who are currently enrolled on any of the ACALISE Programmes listed above.

Applicants are expected to have a conditional or final offer of admission from either Uganda Martyrs University , Makerere University or Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies at time of application and will be required to submit a copy of the same.

Scholarship Tenure

Ph.D. and MSc Scholarships are available for up to a maximum of three and two years respectively. The scholarship will be initially granted for one year and will be renewed upon successful completion of the preceding year and submission of a competency report by the Supervisor.

Equity

Regional and Female candidates, as well as candidates from less privileged groups, are especially encouraged to apply.

  1. Fully filled and signed Uganda Martyrs University Scholarship form.
  2. Signed curriculum vitae.
  3. Certified university degree certificates and transcripts.
  4. Proof of admission to the ACALISE Programmes.
  5. Letter of motivation
  6. Two Referees at least one from Academia

Foreign Academic Transcripts and Certificates

Candidates who have been awarded Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degrees by accredited universities or similar Institutions of higher learning which issue academic documents in languages other than English shall submit notarized English translations of all supporting documentation including, but not limited to, Transcripts, degrees, and diplomas.

The academic levels or equivalence of the qualifications obtained from foreign institutions must be equated by the Uganda National Council of Higher Education (NCHE).
