Arach Zilla Mary, 22 will be sworn in as the new guild president of Busitema University on 3rd April. Mary emerged victorious with 1006 votes beating two others in the race. Ongom Isaac got 775 votes while Omongot tailed with 578.
She is not affiliated to any political party though those close to her say Mary is a sympathizer of Democratic Party. The outgoing guild president of Busitema is Jodrio Geoffrey.
Mary now becomes the second female guild president after Anna Adeke Ebaju of Makerere University. This is a sign that students are now preferring female leaders than men and perhaps a female Ugandan president is in the pipeline.
