Job Title:  Senior Accountant

Reports to: Finance and Administration Manager
About PREFA:
Protecting Families against HIV/AIDS (PREFA) is an indigenous Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was formed to contribute to Uganda’s efforts in enhancing access to quality HIV/AIDS prevention, care, treatment, and support services to families with a historical focus on Elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission (eMTCT) of HIV.
Job Summary: The Senior Accountant will render support to the Finance and Administration Manager in the finance function for the smooth operation of PREFA’s programs and activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·         The applicant should preferably hold a B.Com or BBA (Accounting), or any other relevant discipline from a recognized institution. Professional qualification; ACCA, CPA or CIMA is a must. Possession of a Master’s degree in management is desired
·         A minimum of five or more years’ experience in accounting and financial management; 3 of which should have been at Senior Accountant level.
·         Comprehensive knowledge of donor financial accounting procedures (multi-donor reporting) e.g. CDC/USAID, DFID rules and regulations and clear understanding of Government of Uganda accountingrequirements.
·         Financial management skills
·         Good budgeting skills
·         Excellent auditing skills.
·         Proven management skills
·         Excellent interpersonal skills
·         Good communication skills.
·         Excellent computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and at least two accounting packages (including QuickBooks).
·         High degree of integrity and personality
·         Highly organised, Exemplary character.
