Job Title: Accountant
Organization: Uganda Law Reform Commission
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
About US:The Uganda Law Reform Commission is established under Article 248(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda. Its primary mandate is to study and keep under constant review the Acts and all other laws comprising the laws of Uganda with a view to making recommendations for their systematic improvement, development, modernisation and reform.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collating budget estimates.
• Controlling the vote record, revenue expenditure, and imprest in accordance with the public finance rules and regulations
.• Recording, accounting and reporting on financial transactions.
• Supervising the preparation of financial reports and statutory accounts.
• Verifying and processing payments, including salaries in line with policies and regulations
• Reconciling and managing outstanding items on cash books, bank accounts, accounts payables and accountabilities.
• Supervising management of accounts for debtors and creditors.
• Supervising management of stores.
• Overseeing the preparation and filing of statutory returns i.e (WHT, VAT, PAYE, NSSF).
• Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• The suitable candidate for this post should have:
-• An honours bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting or Commerce (Accounting Option) or Business Administration/Studies (Accounting/Finance and Accounting Option) or Full Professional Accounting qualifications like ACCA or CPA obtained from a recognized university/institution.
• In the case of Bachelors’ Degree, the applicants should have completed ACCA or CPA
.• Full membership of ICPAU.
