Job Title: Senior Electronics Technician (2 vacancies)
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is a corporate body responsible for regulation of civil aviation in Uganda. It manages Entebbe International Airport (EIA) and thirteen (13} other upcountry aerodromes. CAA carries out its work in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).
Job Summary: The CAA Senior Electronics Technician will ensure that equipment and vehicle fleet at the Airport is in a state of good maintenance and repair so that the promised level of service can be delivered to users.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Input into Strategic Planning:
  • Develops the Aerodrome Maintenance (AM) strategic milestones
  • Develop and implement both strategic and operational plans for the AM
  • Actively participates in the business planning, budgeting and review process.
  • Intuitively understand the Shareholders financial interests in CAA and ensure they are supported.
2. Aerodrome Maintenance Processes:
  • Puts in place a comprehensive planned maintenance systems that ensures maximum availability of plant and equipment
  • Ensures a comprehensive response and repair time programme that maximises equipment availability
  • Be sensitive to airport security issues and understand the role and contribution of equipment under AM’s control
  • Maintain Aerodrome electrical and mechanical equipment in a good state of repair and maintenance
  • Offers the same services to Upcountry Airports Manager
  • Ensures that buildings are maintained in a good state of repair and maintenance
  • Ensures continuous serviceability and availability of all Airport Electrical and Mechanical system and pavements.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of all movement areas such as access roads, car parks, compounds, taxi ways are well maintained and there are no potholes, no cracks and no open manholes, and grounds are all well maintained and neat.
  • Maintains an adequate stock of spares to carry out required maintenance without creating a major liability financially
3. Financial Management:
  • Understands the financial requirement of the AM and seek for the approval of the financial, material and human resources required to manage an efficient department
  • Monitors actual costs against expenditure on an ongoing basis and report accordingly
  • Oversees the assets assigned to the department in a good state of maintenance and repair
  • Achieves the planned revenue and surplus objectives from both aeronautical and non aeronautical sources
  • Accounts for the assets allocated to AM
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should possess a good Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree.
  • Hold a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline will be an added Advantage
  • Nine or more years’ relevant working experience 5 of which should have been at managerial level
  • Must be a member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers and registered with the Engineer’s Registration Board
  • Exceptional managerial skills
  • Good computer literacy skills
  • Good working knowledge of relevant ICAO SARPs
  • Working knowledge of computerised engineering designs
