Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is a semi-autonomous agency of Government responsible for maintenance, coordination, supervising and monitoring of the National Statistical System to ensure the collection, analysis and dissemination of standardised statistical information. The Bureau is also mandated as the principal official statistics producing agency in the country.
Job Summary: The Accountant will support the implementation of internal controls for transparent and efficient management, in order to facilitate accountability and sound administration.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review payment requests to ensure completeness including, proper coding and ensure timely initiation of all payments.
- Post the general ledger.
- Prepare cash books and reconciliations.
- Review and ensure the payroll is accurately prepared.
- File records of all transactions as per established procedures, and guidelines.
- Prepare reports including accountability reports and ensure completeness of attached documentation
- Support the preparation of draft financial statements.
- Support GOU and Partner audits by providing information required.
- Participate in the preparation and generation of the section’s budget, and work plan.
- Prepare and submit timely accountability for resources.
- Perform any other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an honors Degree in Commerce or Bachelors in Business Administration (Finance/Accounting options), BSc (Accounting option) or equivalent.
- Part Professional Qualifications – ACCA, CPA is an added advantage.
- A minimum of two years of working experience.
