Man City Beat Bayern Munich 3-0 in a UCL Clash

Man City beat Bayern Munich as Pep Guardiola’s side takes control over the Champions League quarter-final after a three-goal first-leg win at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola‘s side took the lead thanks to Rodri’s curling goal from distance in the first half before Bernardo Silva headed in a second after the break. Leroy Sane tested Ederson multiple times in between, but Bayern’s defensive problems were evident.

Erling Haaland, who had not won a single game against Bayern as a Borussia Dortmund player, revealed that weakness by volleying in the third goal as Bayern, and particularly the struggling Dayot Upamecano, began to collapse under City’s pressure.

The fourth goal did not come, but despite the team’s struggles in the latter stages of the campaign, City can undoubtedly hope to go to the last four after this result.

Upamecano’s blunder on the third was less obvious but just as harmful, allowing Haaland to grab onto John Stones’ header and bounce the effort past the keeper. It was his season-high 45th goal.

Haaland and his team might not require another to defeat Bayern in Munich, given the way the reigning Premier League champions performed in front of their own fans. Of course, there is still work to be done, but Man City’s triple hopes are mounting.
