Job Summary: In addition to the crisis response programmes for refugees, WFP is implementing Social Protection programme activities covering all refugee hosting districts in West Nile. Koboko Field Office covers 7 out of the 8 districts supported under the Social Protection Programme which include NutriCash (Nutrition Sensitive Cash Transfers), Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC), District Local Government (DLG) capacity strengthening, gender and protection and market facilitation. The field office has the highest refugee caseload, and this calls for more resources including human resource leaving gaps to support other programme activities. Having two interns to support the Social protection programme will help to bridge the staffing gap.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support and participate in planning and implementation and integration of social protection activities with other programme activities under Koboko Field Office.
  • Support in organizing trainings and workshops under the SIDA programme workplan.
  • Participate in district local government engagements and capacity strengthening with support from the senior social protection staffs.
  • Work with the Social protection team to develop meaningful nutrition communication messaging aimed at promoting the consumption of more nutritious food.
  • Participate in the programme reviews and provide input for the improvement of implementation.
  • Draw up correspondences like drafts of presentations, letters of invitation, memos for review by the SP team.
  • Participate in reviews, studies, vulnerability assessments and mappings, and other relevant survey pertaining to SIDA programme.
  • At field level, participate in protection and gender working group meetings to identify issues that require WFP’s attention to inform programming
  • Support the implementation of the Gender Action Plan through ensuring gender features prominently at all stages of the program and activity cycle i.e assessment, design, baseline, implementation monitoring and evaluation including budgeting.
  • Support in the identification, registration and mobilization of social protection beneficiaries as well as data analysisand visualization.
  • Verification of NutriCash beneficiaries during cash distribution to ensure that only the eligible targeted groupreceives the entitlement.
  • Assist and participate in the distribution of nutrition and child sensitive cash transfers to pregnant, lactatingwomen and children U2, which is part of the social protection interventions under the programme.
  • Participate in community sensitization, market facilitation and SBCC activities.
  • Ensure provision of timely updates on Social Protection and report on programme activities weekly and monthly.
  • Perform any task delegated by the Team Leader

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelors degree in Food science & Nutrition, Public Health, Agriculture, Social sciences, Gender, Social protection and humanitarian studies or any other related studies with at least a second class upper degree.
  • Graduated between 2019 to 2021 with at least second upper class degree.
  • Born of Westnile region
  • Speaks the WestNile local languages i.e Kakwa, Lugbara, Aringa, Madi
  • Experience in data collection and analysis.
  • Self-driven, a team player and open to new challenges; and interested in taking a first step in the humanitarian sector with (social protection).
  • Solid analytical, writing skills, and communication skills.
  • Able and willing to work in a diverse community environment and have practical working experience in refugee settings and/in complex emergencies
