About US:The National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) is established by the National Agricultural Research Act 2005 as a body corporate with the mandate to provide strategic direction for publically funded agricultural research in Uganda. The organisation is composed of the Council as its governing body, Committees of Council, a Secretariat for its day-to-day operations with semi-autonomous Public Agricultural Research Institutes (PARI’s) under its policy guidance.
About Project:The project is called “Developing a Market Orientated and Environmentally Sustainable Beef Meat Industry in Uganda” (MOBIP) and is financed under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF). NaLIRRI has been contracted to contribute to the project objectives through spearheading MOBIP’s activity under Lot 2 on Improving pasture (Rangeland) and water management in a climate-smart way.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Under the overall supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Project Assistant Coordinator will:•         Support the Project Coordinator in overall coordination project implantation among actors and ensure compliance contractual terms and stipulated implementation modalities•         Support the project coordinator in reviewing, refining, synthesizing and developing project information packages including but not limited to policy briefs, strategic papers, technical reports, journal articles, and instructional/training manuals•         Support the implementation internal Monitoring and Evaluation systems for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness of project operations•         Support timely development and submission of quality technical and financial reports in accordance to the reporting guidelines•         Perform other related duties as requested by the project coordinator.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: •         Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences preferably in Animal Sciences and Master’s Degree in Animal Sciences from a recognized University Post graduate qualification in project management is an added advantage.•         Experience in project management demonstrated by successful coordination and implementation of at least one livestock development project is desired•         Possession of relevant skills in farmer participatory approaches is desirable
