Andela Relocates 400 Software Developers in Uganda, Nigeria and Kenya.

Andela is an African company that identifies and develops software developers. This company launched operations in Nigeria in 2014, to help global companies overcome the severe shortage of skilled software developers and has offices in Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda with headquarters in the United States.

In Uganda, the company has an office located at kamwokya in Wakiso district.

On 17th September 2019, it’s laying off up to 400 junior engineers and staff in Uganda, Nigeria, and Kenya. These engineers were distributed in different tech companies, such as Facebook, Google, etc.

The director in Uganda, Jackie Ochola, said “the most important thing now is to support all the members joining the Ugandan team. Jackie added that she’s not clear how many are from the Uganda office.”

Andela co-founder and CEO, Jeremy Johnson, said: “It has become clear that the world needs what Andela provides: high-quality engineering-as-a-service and the need to grow our senior talent base even faster.”
