Kyambogo University Partners with Movit to Train Graduates

Kyambogo University entered into a partnership with Movit Products Ltd to train Kyambogo University graduates for one year after graduation. To effect the partnership, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed at Kyambogo University in the Council room on Monday, July 29, 2019.

The partnership is aimed at promoting Higher Education and Human Capital Development in Uganda.

According to Mr. Henry Tumusiime, the Director of Human Capital, Movit Products Ltd, this program will run once a year between the month of July and June (of the following year).

He further said that the Internship Collaboration will continue running from January to December each year for a maximum of 3 months per intern as it has always been.

The Vice-Chancellor Kyambogo University, Prof. Eli Katunguka – Rwakishaya thanked Movit Products Ltd for accepting to partner with Kyambogo University in offering the students quality training. Prof. Katunguka said that graduate training is very useful adding that not all companies can offer it.

He described this partnership as a way of developing Human resource capacity and stressed the importance of universities strengthening their linkages with industries.

The criteria for selection of the students for the internship program will be based on the universities’ recommendations, then Movit will carry out an induction for the final selected students.

The selected students will be placed in various areas of the company based on their disciplines of study. Their performance will be assessed annually and those who excel can be taken up by Movit Products Ltd for full-time employment.

The graduate trainees will be remunerated during the tenure of training as provided for in the company’s remuneration structures.

For the first years of partnership, the program is going to benefit students in Engineering and Science.
