The Electoral Commission, which was established under Article 60 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and mandated to conduct public elections and referenda, invites applications from suitably qualified persons with proven integrity and initiative, results oriented, able to work in teams under minimum supervision, and excellent client care to fill vacant positions within its establishment.

Job Title: Sub-County Supervisor (Several Jobs)

Organisation: The Electoral Commission (EC)
Duty Station: Within the Sub-county, Uganda
Reports To:  Returning Officer
Deadline: Saturday, 7th December, 2013.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Administering all electoral activities in the Sub-County.
  • Conducting voter education in the Sub-County.
  • Issuing out voter identification cards.
  • Updating the voters’ register.
  • Mobilizing people to turn up for registration and to check their particulars during the display exercise.
  • Responsible for the supervision of nominations, campaigns and polling day activities.
  • Making election activity reports to the Returning Officer.
  • Maintaining Electoral Commission equipment.
  • Recruiting and training registration, display and polling day officials.
  • Assisting in mobilizing voters during electoral activities.
  • Ensuring that materials reach polling stations in time and equipping polling stations.
  • Conducting publicity of electoral activities.
  • Providing information and statistics on voter registration, voting and elections.
  • Supervising electoral activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should possess high moral character and proven integrity.
  • The applicant should have been a resident in the Sub-County for at least five 5 years.
  • Possess demonstrable experience in handling public affairs.
  • Be a registered voter.
  • No crime record (attach police report).
  • Possession of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to command respect.
  • Significant knowledge and exposure to the challenges involved in electoral activities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-work skills.
  • Capacity to work with senior personalities in different occupations
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Past or current experience in teaching or community mobilization.
  • Possess the ability to train.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines

All suitably qualified candidates should pick their application forms from the offices of the respective District Registrars/Returning Officers. They can also be downloaded from the Electoral Commission website at www.ec.or.ug. The duly filled application forms should be returned to the office of the District Registrar/Returning Officer
The date for conducting interviews will be communicated to you through the office of the District Registrar/Returning Officer and through announcements on local radios. A short-list of candidates to appear for interviews will be pinned at the office of the District Registrar/ Returning Officer in your district. Successful candidates will be informed through the same office and will be issued appointment letters. Copies of academic certificates, a comprehensive CV with 2 referees and day time telephone contact, and two passport size photos should be attached to the application form.
