Job Summary:  The CRES Project Manager will be part of the Brand name change (BNC) program under Valpre and will be reporting to the Premises Team Leader to ensure the coordination and management of the various work streams for a successful delivery of the change of brand name by Barclays Bank Uganda related to all CRES activities. The purpose of the role includes;

  • To plan, manage and implement small change projects to the business, or act as a work-stream lead in large or complex projects
  • To support the CRES Team in the management of project governance, delivery plans and the budget in accordance to applicable programme governance framework
  • To support the CRES Team in achieving the benefits stated within the business case by ensuring that benefits realisation is actively managed/monitored throughout the life of the project and post project.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Project Management Support: 70%

  • Comply with the Program/project management framework and banking policies
  • Prepare current and accurate forecast of costs, cash flow, timescales, MI reports and resource requirements and agree with the Project Steering Committee and any Centre of Excellence from Centre
  • Prepare and agree detailed project plans to meet project objectives on time and within budget.
  • Produce project status reports escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate effective stakeholder management (minimal supervision required)
  • Coordinate with all Bank internal and external stakeholders for the Valpre project
  • Deliver powerful and engaging implementations, focusing on the benefits for the customer and colleague (what is in it for them)
  • Identify areas of risk, concern, change and issue management procedures, making recommendations as appropriate.
  • Ensure business benefits are owned and delivered.
  • Manage the handover of project deliverables and completion of the project.
  • Meetings: Attend and/or draft minutes of meetings and/or organise and/or lead meetings and/or organise the logistics required
  • Manage from an end-to-end perspective procurement activities
  • To act as single point of contact for all CRES activities linked to the roll-out/implementation of Valpre to all of the Bank’s properties

Change Support: 30%

  • Actively participate in the Team Status Update meetings/conference calls
  • Manage the Barclays Africa status reporting
  • Provide admin support to the program/project managers (meeting, agenda setting, mobilisation of team members, preparation of minutes)
  • Ensure all Change documentation are  correctly configured and adhere to the records management policy
  • Assist the Program Manager in managing adherence to timing, budget and delivery plan

Risk, Governance and Regulatory

  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with
  • Regulatory requirements,
  • Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and
  • Internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
  • Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant for the Barclays Bank CRES Project Manager job should have a tertiary qualification in the building sciences.
  • Professionally qualified to at least degree level /local requirement
  • Two years’ experience  in a corporate real estate environment.
  • Proven experience in project management.
  • Proven ability as self-starter, with track record of achievement of goals and targets.
  • Experience of interpretation and development of management information.
  • Experience of corporate real estate portfolio management.
  • Experience of managing teams and management of team performance
  • Excellent understanding of the country regulatory requirements.
  • Working knowledge of operational risk management.
  • Ability to identify value destroyers within the process chain or add value to the end to end services offered.
  • Familiarity with property rental values, property service costs, valuation models, market benchmarks, etc.
  • Program office and/or project management experience
  • Fully conversant with MS Office tools
  • Experience with SAP P11 or equivalent
  • Able to put together progress reports, packs for presentation to a program steering committee or equivalent
  • Some experience of managing activity across the whole of a project lifecycle, using current technology, structured methods and a quality process
  • Ability to effectively work within a team
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Past experience and knowledge of supporting a project
  • Been involved in a successful project delivery, understanding the complex mix of skill and attributes that constitute a good change manager.
  • Good team development skills to manage change resources.
  • A learning mindset with proven capability to rapidly assimilate complex business issues, to quickly resolve problems or pre-empting issues that may arise where financial and benefits are concerned.
  • Effective negotiating skills to secure both internal resources and deal with external service providers.
  • Knowledge of Cost Centre/Budget Management.
  • Team orientation and ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work in groups and have the required communication skills.
  • Ability to work extensively after normal office hours, on weekends and public holidays during the project roll-out
