Defending Champions Makerere University (MUK) was held to a 1-1 draw at home at the hands of Kampala International University (KIU).

Makerere took the lead through Julius Mugema, in the sixth minute of the first half following a defensive mix up, that left inspirational defender Akabwai Geofrey fully exposed, and allowed Mugema to slot home.

Makerere wasted a lot of opportunities, most notably from Dan Kasoma, with a keeper to beat in each half, but could not make any conversions.

With full dominance, Makerere university failed to take advantage, and Kampala International university punished them, with a Jesse Kajubi tap-in following a cross from another KIU man of the match, Stephan Magulumali.

Jesse Kajubi slotted home on sixteen minutes, and from then on Makerere still looked the dominant side, but the score line was yet to change.

Makerere could have won all the three points in the dying minutes of the second half when Tony Kiguli was left with a a keeper to beat, but his prejudice cost his team.

In the reverse fixture, KIU beat MUK 3-0 in Nsambya, but that dominance and class was not replicated at Makerere University Sports grounds.

KIU has now collected just one point out of four consecutive matches following a run of subsequent losses. Makerere on the other hand, have also just collected just three points out of four matches played.

The result leaves Makerere university in the sixth position while Kampala International University in fifth with 13 points each, the latter posing a superior goal difference.

Kampala University tops the eight-man log with 26 points followed by Nkumba(24), among others
