Job Summary:  The Agro- Forester will be responsible for the development of a sustainable source of wood energy to cover the curing needs of wood dependant tobacco for MTC in compliance with AOI Agronomy Standard Operating Procedures
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·         Routinely checks the day to day budget based on Forestry guidelines and reports accordingly in line with Forestry annual budget;
·         Checks the work carried out by the outsourced Service Providers (approximately 40 at peak), confirms the work is at standard, and carries out first verification of the invoices prior to submitting to the Forestry Coordinator;
·         The incumbent will carry out forestry operations on a daily basis and ensures that targets are achieved in compliance with the local Stakeholder and SRTP Regulations and AOI Agronomy SOP’s
·         The incumbent will agree on the weekly and daily plans and updated activities with the Forest Coordinator;
·         Attends the monthly Forestry meeting with the Forestry Team;
·         The incumbent sources for land under the guidance of the Forest Coordinator
·         Arranges and carries out the training programme for the FieldTechnicians and Farmers in the required Forestry procedures, and submits the training evaluation to the Forest Coordinator for approval;
·         The job holder identifies possible outsourced labour to carry out outsourced services for the Forestry Programmes (for example, nurseries, transport, establishment and management of the woodlots);
·         Submits the Service Provider (labour) contracts to the Forest Coordinator for approval, prior to submission to the Agronomy & Sustainability Manager for sign off;
·         Allocates the labour to undertake the agreed activities (for example fire protection, nursery practice) in the particular areas daily and monitors through daily visits;
·         Manages the outsourced labour in the establishment and harvesting of tree woodlots, and all Forestry activities including nurseries, planting, maintaining and so on;
·         The incumbent also oversees the woodlots, identifies the operations to be carried out by the Stakeholders and monitors the implementation of the operations;
·         Updates the awareness programs on forestry issues for the farmers and the community, and assists in the communication of the programs, and the adherence of the farmers and stakeholders to the programs;
·         Checks that the SRTP has been implemented correctly and is being adhered to by Forestry staff and all stakeholders;
·         Prepares and submits daily, weekly and monthly plans to the Forest Coordinator for approval;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
·         The ideal candidate for the aforementioned jobs must hold a Certificate in Forestry/Agronomy or similar qualification. Possession of a Diploma in Forestry/Agronomy or similar is desirable;
·         Prior forestry and extension work experience is mandatory
