Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) in partnership with the Centre for Evaluation (CEVAL) at Saarland University of Germany will be running a joint Masters programme in Monitoring and Evaluation starting September 2015.

This programme aims at addressing challenges faced by regional governments in implementing policies and interventions in both public and private sectors.

Initially, the three-year project funded by the Government of Germany through GIZ evaluated three higher institutions of learning in Uganda to partner with in piloting a Blended Learning Postgraduate Programme in Evaluation.

UTAMU beat Makerere University and Uganda Management Institute (UMI) emerging the best evaluated bidder to pilot the programme.

Currently 59 students have already been awarded with scholarships for this pilot blended learning postgraduate programme in Evaluation, of which 20 have completed successfully.

Thirty nine (39) students completed in June 2015. The teaching on this pilot programme was done jointly by staff from UTAMU and Saarland University at the UTAMU post graduate training facility in Bugolobi, Kampala.

Following the successful completion of the pilot programme, UTAMU and the Centre for Evaluation (CEval) in Saarland University were awarded a grant of €120,000 (One hundred and twenty thousand Euros) to run a joint master’s programme in Monitoring and Evaluation.

The programme is expected to train the best Monitoring and Evaluation experts in the region there by addressing the gap faced by governments in implementing policies and interventions in both public and private sectors.
