National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has accredit seven more courses of Uganda Management and Technology university (UTAMU) for a period of five years.

UTAMU started with only five undergraduate courses but now boasts of more than 32 courses at both undergraduate and post graduate levels, all accredited by the National Council for Higher Education.

The newly accredited courses include;

• Master of Information Technology
• Master of Information Systems
• Masters in Monitoring and Evaluation
• Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation
• Masters in Public Administration and Management
• Foundation Certificate Programme
• Master of Business Administration.

Master of Information Technology (MIT): This course will focus on equipping students with the necessary skills through engaging them in rigorous intellectual analysis, critique and problem solving using a variety of teaching and learning techniques.

At the end of the programme, the students should be able to make decisions that span IT disciplines, innovate, take lead in the following disciplines; Data-Mining, Cloud Computing, Business Analyst, Business Intelligence, ICT Infrastructure, Information Management, Mobile Devices, Network Design and Management, Security and Forensics, Quality Assurance, System Architecture.

Careers for students who have undertaken this Master Degree may include but not limited to the following; Analyst, System Developer, Data Miner, IT Managers, IT Entrepreneurs, IT Security Personnel etc.

Master of Informations Systems (MIS): This course focuses on areas such as information management, strategic management, business information systems, systems modeling and information systems technology issues.

It is designed to give students a thorough knowledge of the field and to provide an enduring foundation for future professional growth.

It blends theory and practice into a learning experience that develops skills applicable to complex real-world problems.

Masters in Monitoring and Evaluation (MME): The two year course was designed to enable students have a comprehensive set of knowledge, skills and competencies essential for a 21st century project planning, monitoring and evaluation expert.

It was developed to equip participants both in the public and private sectors with broader knowledge and skills in evaluation practices and to also enable them upgrade their studies without compromising their work schedules.

UTAMU in partnership with the Centre for Evaluation (CEVAL) at Saarland University of Germany will be running a joint Masters programme in Monitoring and Evaluation starting September 2015.

Master of Public Administration and Management (MPAM): It is designed to raise analysis of public management and to develop more efficient and resourceful public sector managers/administrators through using models and concepts from the social sciences disciplines.

It is intended to enhance the skills of accomplished senior officials, who hold key positions in organizations and those aspiring to have a specialized career in public administration.

Master of Business Administration (MBA): The MBA is aimed at equipping students with skills necessary to compete in a global business arena. The programme is integrated with both ICT and Management courses aimed at producing graduates with strong knowledge in ICT and its application in business and management settings.

It also provides students with contemporary skills of analysis, critical thinking, synthesis and evaluation in relation to business dynamics. Learners become acquainted with critical issues in business administration and leadership, and thus apply intellectual and practice-oriented approaches to addressing the challenges at work.

Foundation Certificate Programme (FCD): This course is a pre-university course designed to bridge the gap for international students between high school and undergraduate studies in Uganda.

It is specifically designed for international students who do not hold an equivalent of ‘A’ level qualification which is a requirement for direct entry to Year 1 of an undergraduate Diploma or Degree programme in Uganda.

The Foundation certificate programme lasts for two semesters or approximately eight months and has intakes in January, May and September. Read more at:
