Uganda Technology and Management University has empowered over 100 staff of Kampala International University (KIU) with e-learning skills at their main campus in Kansanga.

Trainees were armed with: pedagogies of ICT integration, authoring and assessment tools, learning management systems among others.

The five day workshop was facilitated by Prof. Baryamureeba, Prof. Prof. Jude T. Lubega, Dr. Johnson Mwebaze, Seth Muhairwe and the rest of the team.

Prof Baryamureeba said, “I am passionate about ICT and would like to see all academic institutions adopt it. At UTAMU that is our Niche; our mission is to be at the forefront of ICT integration into the Education System in Uganda.
Over the last three weeks, teaching staff from various institutions have been equipped with ICT skills which they will be integrating into their teaching processes; among these are technical and Vocational teachers, secondary and primary teachers and University lecturers.

“I commend KIU for embracing this initiatives early enough. Higher institutions have no option but to integrate ICT into their teaching and learning processes given the fast trend of digital evolution today,” Lubega said.

He said UTAMU will continue to mentor and support trainees in ICT integration not only in the Education sector but also other institutions to streamline operations.

“Students today understand the language of gadgets, computers and applications. To stick to the old way of doing things is absurd,” Seth Muhairwe.
