The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has withdrawn the operating licence of Fairland University. Awards from Fairland University will no longer be recognized by NCHE with effect from March 12 and the council has warned students wishing to joining the University.
However, any academic awards granted by the university while still operating under the provisional licence will still be counted valid.
NCHE said the University has been conducting uncredited courses and has made little progress in the establishment of a full university.
NCHE which has the mandate to regulate the standards of higher education in Uganda revealed in a press conference that Fairland University had failed to comply with the Council’s set standards thus their withdrawal of the operating licence.
The Council also said that the university had inadequate funds, few workers and the buildings were not enough to enable the smooth running of the institution. Besides the university was operating some illegal study centres.
