After an exciting week full of sporting action from the over 5000 participants at the 9th Eastern Africa University games, the games will officially be closed on Sunday at 2 p.m with a colorful ceremony.
This follows successful completion of action in Swimming, Darts, Athletics, Rugby, Hockey, Table Tennis, Karate, Taekwondo, Scrabble and Lawn Tennis.
The closing ceremony will follow final action in the basketball (men and women), handball (men and women), Netball , Tennis and football (men).
In the Football final, Makerere University plays Kyambogo University at the main stadium.
Handball women, Nkumba University plays Kenya’s Moi University as Ndejje University men take on Technical University of Kenya.
The Basketball men final has Uganda Christian University taking on Kampala International University with Kenyan University, Strathmore playing UCU in the women’s affair.
There will be fireworks on the volleyball courts as Kenya’s attacking St Paul takes on Uganda’s Nkumba University in the women final before Nkumba returns to play  Kampala International University in the men’s finals.
Many of the games’ finals were completed by Saturday night and the tallying of final medals is underway with the winner expected to be declared at 2 p.m during the colourful closing ceremony.
Ndejje University is the defending champions having won the championships two years ago in Dar es salaam.
Third place play off games are expected to start today 21st December 2014 as early as 9:30 a.m, with the finals following thereafter and will be expected to end by 1 p.m before the final medal and trophies presentation between 2-3 p.m.
Uganda Christian University made history by becoming the first private University to host the games of this magnitude.
The Local Organizing Committee have been supported by a bandwagon of sponsors; Joint medical Stores, Rwenzori Mineral Water, Coca Cola, Movit Limited , DFCU Bank, Centenary Bank, Standard Chartered.
