Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
The Agricultural Business Initiative (aBi) Trust is supporting agribusiness development in the private sector to achieve the objective of Climate Strategy (CICS). The Trust is a multi-donor entity jointly founded by the Governments of Denmark and Uganda.
The mandate of aBi Trust is to support the private sector actors to increase their contribution to the agricultural sector by increasing land and labour productivity, and market competitiveness thereby contributing to poverty reduction through economic growth, wealth, and employment creation.
The aBi Trust strengthens competitiveness of the Agricultural and Agro-processing sectors through three (3) interrelated components: Value Chain Development (VCD) including trade-related Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary and Quality Management Systems (SPS/QMS), Financial Services Development (FSD) and a cross cutting Gender for Growth (G4G) Fund.
Job Summary: The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will render technical support to the M&E function of aBi Trust in monitoring and evaluating projects, reporting, technical support to staff and IPs in Monitoring and Evaluation, reporting. The incumbent will also provide support in ensuring that grantees are using the right methodologies to plan, implement, monitor, evaluate and report on their projects.
Key job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and update of M&E manual, M&E frame works, result chains and other M&E documents in accordance with the aBi Trust objectives
- Make sure that the data management system is updated with accurate data.
- Ensure the reporting system delivers the required data on the key results in time.
- Ensure the aBi Trust staff and Implementing partners comply with the DCED standard of monitoring and evaluation.
- Support the review and compilation of work plans in consultation with staff
- Compile and send reports for internal and external audience using approved formats
- Carry out verification, monitoring visits to partners regularly
- Work with teams to develop DCED compliant result chains and indicators for sectors, projects, subcomponents and aBi Trust.
- Organize refresher trainings on DCED for Staff and Partners
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The candidate should preferably hold a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Economics, Statistics, Development studies from a recognized University coupled with exceptional technical skills in Monitoring & Evaluation, data management and assessment.
- Post graduate qualifications/Masters in project planning and management, monitoring and evaluation would be an added advantage.
- At least six years’ experience in Monitoring and Evaluation function
- Understanding of the DCED standard of Monitoring and Evaluation
- Past experience and exposure in agriculture donor funded projects is an added advantage.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of advanced Monitoring and Evaluation concepts.
- Very good competencies in statistics to analyse data and provide interpretations.
- Good knowledge and understanding of DCED standard of monitoring and evaluation.
- Familiarity and understanding of UEA standards.
- High level of integrity
- Must be keen on detail and execute duties within the set timelines
- Excellent report writing skills t communications and presentation skills
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and management skills.
- Exhibit good leadership qualities, personnel and team management (including mediation and conflict resolution).
- Evidence of results driven and results based management.
- Computer literacy i.e. Proficiency in Microsoft programs particularly statistical packages and report writing.
- Well-developed conceptual thinking skills
