About USAID Intra Health SHRH Project:

The purpose of the Strengthening Human Resources for Health (SHRH) project is to strengthen the capacities of central ministries, districts, health professional councils, PNFP and health training institutions to effectively and efficiently plan, manage and utilize the health workforce; and strengthen systems for sustained health worker performance to improve health outcomes for the people of Uganda.

Job Summary: The USAID SRHR Regional driver will operate & maintain office vehicles to ensure that the project runs efficiently.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Drive staff on official duties within town and up country trips.
  • Ensure that the vehicle has valid insurance and/or road license.
  • Complete logbook regularly.
  • Ensure vehicle is serviced whenever it is due.
  • Monitor the mechanical conditions of the vehicle and inform the Administration Officer so repair can be arranged
  • Maintain vehicle in clean condition
  • Assist in delivery of mails to other partners in and around Kampala
  • Ensure that the car has sufficient fuel at all times

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The Drivers must hold Ordinary Level Certificate
  • A minimum of five years’ related work experience, preferably with a reputed agency
  • Past work experience with a USAID supported project will be an added advantage
  • Working knowledge of road routes in major districts of Uganda
  • Strong driving skills
  • Possess the ability to identify problems in vehicle and take appropriate action.
  • Proven ability to work well within and as part of a team
  • Integrity and honesty and good communication skills
  • The drivers must be highly adaptable with the ability to cope with change / time limit
  • Open to work in long hours as and when required.
  • Possess excellent Communication – Oral and Written skills
  • Understands effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience; and receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Problem Solving skills
  • Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Excellent Interpersonal Relationships
  • Knowledge of and the ability to effectively interact within and across Divisions, Departments/Country Offices in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Ability to manage Multiple Priorities
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritization and time allocation.
