600 Oil Training Bursaries for Albertine Youths

The ministry of education has availed over 600 bursary slots for the youth in the albertine  to undergo free in various oil fields.

Through the Albertine Region Sustainable Development Project (ARSDP), at least 600 trainees from accredited institutions will be picked from 13.

The bursary that was launched by president Yoweri Museveni at Hoima Boma grounds last Friday will cover tuition, and accommodation of students if required.

“Our children are going to get universal capability and they shouldn’t miss this chance. When the oil is finished, they can go and work somewhere else because they will be issued with international certificates in each area of expertise,” Museveni said.

Applicants must be Ugandan and have lived in the Albertine region districts of Nebbi, Nwoya, Buliisa, Masindi, Hoima, Kibaale, Kakumiro, Kagadi, Kyenjojo, Kabarole, Ntoroko, Bunyangabu and Kiryandongo for the past five years.

Application forms will be picked at no fee from district education offices from November 19, 2018 to January 2019 while completed forms are expected not later than January 11, 2019 before 5pm.

The training will be 2-6 months  in construction trades such as carpentry, scaffolding, painting and plumbing; engineering trades such as electrical, mechanical, production and instrumentation technicians; hospitality and catering; goods vehicle driving and safety driving.

The president confirmed that more than 160,000 new jobs will be created mostly at levels two and three training to support the oil and gas industry.
