Job Title: Library Assistant (6 Career Jobs)
The Education Service Commission is established by article 167 91) of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and article 168 (1) sets out its functions, authority and autonomy in implementing its mandate. The vision of Education Service Commission is to see “quality education delivered by efficient and effective education service personnel.”
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Library Assistant puts book indices on all books and reading materials in the library.
- Receives incoming books and keeps a properly records them.
- Looks for books on the shelves and avails them to users.
- Arranges books on the shelves in a systematic manner.
- Checks on Library users moving out of the library to ensure that no reading materials are lost.
- Keeps a record of all out going and in coming books and notifies users whose period has expired to bring them back.
- Performs any other duty assigned by the relevant authority.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The jobholder should hold a Certificate in Library and information Science.
- Past working experience in a library is an added advantage.
Age: Below 50 Years
