6 Community Support Workers needed at Cheshire Services Uganda

About US:
Cheshire Services Uganda is a nongovernmental organization working the field of disability and development.
CSU works with and for Persons with Disabilities through four thematic programme areas of Livelihoods, Inclusive Education, Advocacy and campaign, health and rehabilitation. CSU in collaboration with Leonard Cheshire Disability has received funding from the European Union to implement a three year livelihoods
project for Persons with Disabilities in Adjuman and Moyo districts.
Job Summary: The Community Support Workers will primarily support the identification and mobilization of Persons with Disabilities at community level and engage community stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identify and mobilize persons with disabilities for establishment of disabled people’s groups;
  • Works with families to support their family members with Disabilities and raise awareness of disability issues;
  • Actively facilitate the registration of disabled people into the LRC for career opportunities and guidance;
  • Involve communities and Persons with Disabilities in the planning and implementation of community
    and project activities
  • Support community awareness raising events;
  • Support and supervise the disabled trainees to prepare their work plans and weekly
    schedules for the implementation of planned activities, working closely with the project team;
  • Prepare and submit monthly progress report;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The Community Support Social Workers should hold Bachelor’s degrees in Social Work / Community Development Studies;
  • Excellent communication skills and understanding of English;
  • Good working knowledge local language especially;
  • Good report writing skills;
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Past experience working with persons with disabilities is desired
