About US:

The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) is established as a Statutory Body under the Uganda Registration Services Bureau Act Cap. 210. The Bureau is a key player in Commercial, Civil and Intellectual Property Rights Registration that facilitate private sector development and vital statistics for national planning.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receives and processes applications for the registration of companies and business names.
  • Conducts searches in the business registry and examination of applications, prepare search reports and provide feedback to clients on search requests.
  • Ensures certification and verification of documents
  • Captures data of company and business name registration in the system
  • Prepares correspondences and reports during and after substantive examination, and issuing of certificates.
  • Reserves names once they have passed the defensive, offensive, desirability tests.
  • Ensures quality assurance of statutory requirements and issue notices for compliance and enforcement.
  • Addresses questions and queries from interested persons
  • Prepare legislative action plan, and review existing laws on company registration for conformity and compliance with statutory requirements
  • Assesses and collection of non-tax revenue accruing from registrations
  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Senior
  • Registration Officer – Companies

Key Outputs

  • To implement the day-to-day operations of the Company Registration ensuring that they are in compliance with the statutory requirements and URSB policies and guidelines.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold an Honours degree in law, social sciences, IT, BBA, Human Resource Management or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to registration duties.
  • Good interpersonal, analytical, mentoring and communication skills.
  • Ability to liaise and network with other Government Departments.
  • Ability to work in a team
